Riley's 1st haircut

It was a big day for Riley today. It was her FIRST haircut. That's right folks, she's 2 1/2 and never had her hair cut. She's got the finest hair and lets just say it doesn't grow very fast. However, it had started to become unmanageable lately so I knew it was time. I was VERY unsure of how well it would go, especially because I had to wake her up from her nap. I was afraid she'd see the scissors and flip out. But, she did the complete opposite! She did SO well and was so proud of her new do.

I took her to the salon/spa that I go to and my hairdresser, Sarah, did her hair too. At one point during the haircut Sarah asked her what she was doing today and Riley said "Hmmm...let me think..." (like she's got so much going on) But, it was so grown up of her, actually made me sad that my little girl is getting older and bigger.

So here are a few (I think I took 200 pictures within the 10 minutes the haircut took :)) pictures from this monumental day :).
Don't mind her fat lip, poor thing dropped a toy on her lip yesterday when she was suppose to be "sleeping"!

Here are the before and afters:

AFTER (front)

AFTER (BACK)
Also, I do realize that it doesn't look much different (at all), but it desperately needed to be trimmed! I would have done it myself, but she just had to have the "whole experience".

Happy Easter Part 2

This year we spent Easter at church, then we went to my Grandparent's in Allegan for a big lunch and "Easter egg hunt", then when we got home the Easter bunny had stopped by our place too. Here are some (okay, a lot) of pictures from our Easter! I'll let the pictures do the talking.

Riley sitting like a lady (that's what she always says when she crosses her legs:))!

Daddy and daughter--this picture really shows how much she looks like Ty!

What would a holiday be without a family picture?? (You probably can't tell but I just got almost 6 inches cut off my hair :)!)

The Easter egg hunt at my Grandparen'ts house is not the typical Egg hunt, per se, because instead of hiding Easter eggs, my Grandma buys TONS of candy and peeps then when it's time for the hunt some of the adults go outside and start throwing all the candy in the big yard. Then the kids go pick it all up, put it in their bags, bring it inside and evenly distribute. There is no "looking for hidden eggs" because they're all over the lawn instead :).

Some of the family picking up the candy!

Riley found one!

She kept picking up the candy, then putting it (wrapper and all) in her mouth.

On the drive home I looked over my shoulder because the kids were being really quiet and this is what I saw. How precious!

At home after the Easter bunny came. Lincoln is unwrapping his Little People dump truck!

Riley got the Little People castle and she loves it!

Finally a boy toy I can play with!

BABY LEGS!

Are you kidding me, mom??

"I don't know, Dad, what do you think??" They do keep my chubbies warm...

"Okay, I guess they're not so bad afterall!!"

Love "Baby Legs"...but, I love Lincoln's chubby legs even more!

Thanks (again) to my cousins Matt and Kris for the adorable "Lincoln onesie"...LOVE it too!

(Ty says I'm going to give him a complex by putting him in "tights", but I disagree!! These are definitely NOT tights :)!)

Lincoln @ 11 months

One month before Lincoln turns one, what the heck??!!

He is finally crawling on hands and knees for the most part, but when he wants to get somewhere fast he sticks with the army crawl. He proved me wrong, I thought he'd go right from army crawling to walking. Guess not.

He is also now taking a sippy cup and since then he's only nursing 2-3 times a day. I'm getting tired of it so I'm trying to ween him from 4 times to 2 (once in the morning, and once at night). I only had a 4.5 month break between nursing Riley and when he was born. As much as I love nursing my babies, I'm ready to be done. I started giving him whole milk once a day just so he gets used to the taste and he loves it.

He's eating strictly table food now and has been since about 10.5 months old. It's nice not having to feed him baby food (it's nice not making it anymore too) and he very much prefers table food. He'll eat just about anything--especially pasta and bread!

Lincoln still wears 6-12 month clothes and size 6-12 month Robeez. I have bought him all 12-18 month clothes for the summer and I'm afraid he's not going to fit into them right away. We'll see. I think once he really starts drinking whole milk he'll bulk up!

Speaking of bulking up, he weighed 19 lbs. at his 11 month appt. (but 5 days later weighed 18 lbs. 8 oz, not eating well because of his ear infections) He went to the doctor because he had another double ear infection. Although this was the first one in weeks. He sees another specialist May 19th and then we'll go from there.

He's been sleeping through the night again and has been for weeks. Once he got rid of his ear infections he started sleeping well again. Poor kid still sleeps in our room. I REALLY don't want to put him and Riley in the same room, so for now it's working out that he's still with us in his crib. Now if only I could get him to sleep past 6 am we'd be good to go!

He loves bath, LOVES playing with Riley and is starting to stand a little bit on his own. He hates having his diaper changed and throws a big fit when he does. He has such a sweet and laid back personality and loves his momma--well, daddy and Riley too--but is especially clingy to me! I can't say that I mind though!

One more month until my sweet little baby turns one and we've got a big celebration planned :)!

A Letter from Lincoln

Dear ear infections #2,952 and #2,953,

You make my ears hurt and don't let me sleep (at night). Mommy is tired and her arms her from holding me all day. Leave my baby ears alone! Please go away and don't come back again!!

Love,
Lincoln

Happy Easter! Part 1

I took the kids to the mall to visit the Easter Bunny this week and Riley wasn't thrilled, hench the reason I am in the picture with them. She wouldn't let go of the death grip she had on my neck when I tried to put her on the Bunny's lap! Lincoln, on the otherhand, couldn't have cared less. What an easy going baby!

Thanks, Mandy, for taking this picture :).

It's a sad, sad day...

My little Lincoln has been moved from his infant carrier, to his convertable car seat! You know what that means, right? It means that he's no longer a little (not that he was ever very little) baby! Oh what a sad day it was. As much as I hated dragging around that gigantic, and very heavy carrier, I have to admit that I'm going to miss the convenience of the infant seat! How nice it was to just take him out of the car when he was asleep and set him in the bedroom until he woke up from his nap. I'm going to miss those days. Mostly what I'm sad about is that my little guy is growing up, soon we're going to have two toddlers! YIKES!

We got him the Britax Boulevard and actually we got Riley a Boulevard, too. I wanted them to have the same brand so I sold her old seat and got one for her too (I know, it may be ridiculous, but that's what I thought was best). He seems to really like it, and I really like it too! It's easy to install and he looks comfy in it. Check out the seat, if you're on the market for a convertable car seat, I highly recommend this one (we've been using Riley's for months now).

Lincon's last ride in the infant car seat!! :(

Lincoln was happy to be able to see everything (even if the sun was in his eyes!).
