Ty went to Texas for 4 days over the weekend for a friend's wedding. We decided that it would just be too much for all of us to go. He was flying standby and I know how difficult that can be by ourselves, let alone with 2 kids, so I just told him to go alone. I didn't want him to miss out just because I wasn't going. So he and his best friend, Luke, went together. Although we missed him a ton I am glad he was able to go and have some "guy time"!
We went down on Saturday to my Dad's house and Riley was so excited to see Papa, Nani and McKenna and Reagan. Well my Dad, Jamie and girls weren't home yet so we spent a couple of hours at my Grammy's and Grandad's house. The kids enjoyed getting lost in their big house and Grandad, who is always outside, took them to play in the grass. He taught Riley about the flowers and even picked a couple for her. She then saw the go-cart that was sitting behind their shed and proceeded to ask if she could ride it. Like Grandad always does, he said "sure". So, Riley had her first go-cart ride. She didn't like it at first because it was too noisey, but when I went to put it away she about had a meltdown because she wanted to keep going. She especially didn't mind because Grandad got her "earmuffs" to wear!
Papa got home and Riley was thrilled. They flew a kite, played with sidewalk chalk (which Riley calls "high chalk", who knows why??), "fixed" his car, and so much more. Riley was his little shadow the whole afternoon. Doing everything he did. I just love watching my Dad with my daughter. It reminds me of how my Grandad is and was with us, his Grandchildren.
My Dad had gotten a cramp in his calf so he was stretching it out. When he was done Riley did the same thing he was doing, it was so cute.
The we went back to G&G's for dinner. It was a beautiful, but chilly July night. I can't believe how weird this summer has been. Definitely not typical. Highs in the 60s for July, seriously??!
Sunday we went to the late service at my Dad's church and went directly to the Point O' Woods Country Club afterwards. Dad was meeting Kolby there to play golf, so the kids and I went to go swimming, but didn't end up doing so because it was cold out! (it was maybe 70 degrees) Riley still had a good time throwing toys in the big pool for my sisters to "fetch" and bring back to her!

Ah, looks like you guys had a fun time! My kids love to hang out with their grandparents too - it's always makes me smile to watch them. :)
Looks like a lot of fun!!!
