SNOW (and lots of it!)

When visiting my dad's while back in Michigan they got a TON of snow. They live about 5 minutes from Lake Michigan, so you can just imagine they really get a ton of lake effect snow. However, they didn't just get a little bit, they got about 2 feet in a day and a half. Riley couldn't wait to get in her gear and go sledding and do snow angels. I couldn't wait to let her because I didn't have to go, my little sisters (McKenna and Reagan) took her instead while Lincoln and I stayed inside where it was nice and warm. I don't mind the snow, I just don't like the cold. They were out for about 30 minutes with a hot chocolate break in between! We definitely won't be getting that kind of snow in West Virginia, so I'm glad we were able to take advantage of it while we could.
Lincoln gave kisses through the window! He really wanted to go out, but the snow was about as deep as he is tall.

Sledding with Daddy

Last weekend we took Riley sledding. I hate to say it but it was the first time she's played in the snow this whole year--it's hard because it has either been way too cold to go outside or Ty hasn't been home to take her. It's not the easiest thing for me to do by myself because I don't want to take Lincoln out in the cold and we actually have to go somewhere to "sled" because our backyard is a pond! I really didn't think Riley would have very much fun because it was so cold and she couldn't move very well in all the layers, but to my surprise, she had a blast and wasn't happy when it was over! Her and Ty built a fort, made snow angels, and made a snowman! Lincoln and I sat in the car, stayed warm and took pictures :).

Riley's 1st Sledding Experience...

We finally got enough snow last week to be able to take Riley "sledding" for the first time. She had actually never played in the snow until now. Over night we got about 15 inches of snow and thought then would be the perfect opportunity. A good friend of mine, Sarah, came over with her daughter, Mia, and we decided to take the girls out and see how they liked being in the snow. I think Riley had a good time, but I don't think she liked being bundled up so much that she couldn't move. Maybe I was being a tad overprotective-she had layers upon layers so she probably wasn't the most comfortable but I didn't want her to get cold. Here are a few pictures from our adventure.

"Okay, enough with the picture taking...lets go out and play"

"I love my new sled"

"Mom!! I can't move..."

"Would you two stop chatting, we're ready to get some hot chocolate!!"
